Palestine Action - Lift the Ban
London, October 2023
Palestine Action, a UK-based direct action group founded in 2020, was banned as a “terrorist organisation” by the UK government in July 2025 under the Terrorism Act 2000. Since the ban came into force, hundreds of people, including retirees and peaceful sign-holders, have been arrested simply for expressing support. The concern among civil-liberties and protest-rights groups is that the ban risks criminalising legitimate protest, chills freedom of expression, and blurs the line between non-violent activism (holding signs, sit-ins) and violent/terror acts.
